124 Grave Plots in TPU Rorotan Have Been Used for COVID-19 Patients

Rorotan Public Cemetery (TPU) at RW 09, Rorotan Urban Village, Cilincing has been used as burial ground for COVID-19 patients since March 26, 2021.

From information that we have obtained until today, there will be additional grave plots in the area

North Jakarta City Park and Forestry Sub-agency's Green Belt and Cemetery Section Head, Prihanto Budi S. stated, from the latest data or until Thursday (4/22), his side noted that 124 grave plots had been used for COVID-19 patients.

"From information that we have obtained until today, there will be additional grave plots in the area," he said, Friday (4/23).

Rorotan TPU Starts to Be Operated

In TPU Rorotan, his side has prepared two-hectare land for COVID-19 patients burial ground. Currently, 8,000 square meters land with about 1,500 grave plots is ready to be used for burial.

"TPU Rorotan is now prioritized as burial ground for COVID-19 patients who have Jakarta ID cards or non-Jakarta residents who died in hospitals or health facilities in Jakarta," he explained.

Land clearing work at TPU Rorotan is still ongoing. But access to the entrance is already available at TPU Rorotan, including street lighting.

"Our personnel are on standby from 8 AM to 6 PM," he added.

His side deployed 18 PJLP personnel who were divided in 3 teams to assist funeral process for COVID-19 patients.

Funeral process for COVID-19 patients should adhere to health protocols where personnel use personal protective equipment (PPE) or hazmat suit. Hearse sirens will be turned off when entering the burial ground as requested by the local residents.

His side also continued to collaborate cross-sectors to meet the needs for burial ground at TPU Rorotan. It is hoped that in the future, TPU Rorotan arrangement can be the same as other TPUs in serving public cemetery.
